Tim Cole named Interim Head of Digital Services and Development.
The Digital Services and Development Unit recently received a donation of two T221 high-resolution monitors and workstations from IBM, which will be used to showcase the German Emblem Book project, Digital Emblematica. (Further information).

The Illinois Digitization Institute is awarded a $241,348 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for a two-year project, "Basics and Beyond", which will set up digitization training programs throughout Illinois.
The Open Archives Initiative project was also awarded a grant of $499,440 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. In this three-year project, we will create a collection-level registry of digital collections created with IMLS funding from 1998 to 2005 and will research, design and implement a prototype item-level metadata repository service based on the Open Archives Initiative Metadata Harvesting Protocol.
