County Information

Due to the immense number of aerial photos in the UIUC collection, the digitization process was limited to only a small portion of several counties. Specific features were targeted, including the Illinois River, the Champaign-Urbana region, Joliet, and southern Cook county. Pending further funding, additional counties and years may be added to this online collection.

County, Year, and Coverage

• Champaign, 1940

  Centered on Champaign-Urbana, making a 4-leaf clover by following US 45 and what later became I-74

• Cook, 1938

  South of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Expressway (formerly Congress Expressway), roughly the southern 1/3 - 1/2 of the county

• Fulton, 1938

  Illinois River and some parts of its tributaries

• Mason, 1939

  Illinois River and some parts of its tributaries

• Peoria, 1939

  Illinois River and some parts of its tributaries

• Will, 1939 & 1954

  Centered on Joliet
